Job Description Who We Are

The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre‑K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state‑of‑the‑art buildings in west‑central Ohio.

As

a Teacher You Are Required To
  • Current 7‑12 licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education to teach Integrated Science, Biology, or Physics
  • Be flexible in your work schedule and be willing to attend or participate in professional development sessions
  • Be willing to serve on teams
  • Have the ability to relate to and teach students with diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm in your role
Preferred Qualifications
  • Integrated licensure or coursework specific to environmental sciences and/or geology
  • Previous experience in an urban setting (not required)
As a Teacher You Will
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction to meet each student's needs.
  • Manage an organized and professional classroom conducive to learning and the whole child's development.
  • Foster a cooperative and respectful partnership with families and encourage parent involvement through classroom observations and volunteer opportunities.
  • Maintain close relationships with parents, communicating regularly, specifically regarding at‑risk students.
  • Actively engage at‑risk students in the learning process; plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of learning styles and needs.
  • Recognize the needs of individual students and the entire group, offering support and flexibility as needed.
  • Work as part of a cooperative and diverse team of educators and administrators to carry out the goals of our District.
  • Utilize technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Participate in professional development activities aligned with district and building goals, assigned subject content, and the varied needs of students.
What We Offer

As a contracted employee, teachers work 183 days per year and 7.25 hours per day.

Starting salary aligns with the negotiated agreement and increases with experience and education.

Contracted employees receive competitive benefits.

All employees receive professional development.

Salary details are available in the Springfield Education Association (SEA) negotiated agreement.
