Springfield City Schools – Lagonda Elementary School, Springfield, Ohio. The Springfield City School District is seeking a 3rd Grade Teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year. The district serves approximately 7,500 students and offers a vibrant learning community with state‑of‑the‑art facilities, a 1‑to‑1 initiative, and the You Media Center for digital learning.

• Current licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education.
• Possession of or in the process of applying for the Reading Endorsement or having passed Praxis 5203 (Teaching Reading: Elementary Education).

• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small‑group instruction to meet the needs of each student.
• Use multiple approaches to instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Engage in active, hands‑on creative and innovative approaches to help students improve their skills.
• Identify and build on student strengths.
• Embrace, support, and follow all district‑enacted programming in the areas of academic, behavioral, and emotional support.
• Facilitate ongoing assessments to determine the starting point for instruction, monitor instructional needs, and evaluate student progress.
• Evaluate, grade, and assess student work.
• Maintain class records and record/report grades and progress at the end of the term.
• Provide instruction to students with varying capabilities and needs, including SEL support.
• Engage in active and innovative approaches to student learning.
• Assist students in the development of responsible behaviors.
• Implement an effective program of instruction reflective of the Ohio Department of Education.
• Interact with paraprofessionals, nurses, mental health specialists, and/or counselors to provide a safe and student‑centered environment.
• Assists students in the development of responsible behaviors and a positive work ethic.
• Engage in collaborative planning with colleagues, supporting building and district‑level programs.
• Communicate with parents and caregivers to address student or classroom issues.
• Maintain a professional demeanor, exemplifying responsible leadership as a model for students.
• Manage all situations in a positive and professional manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Contracted employees work 183 days per year and 7.25 hours per day.

Starting salary is in accordance with the negotiated agreement and increases with experience and education.

All employees receive professional development.

The Springfield Education Association and the Board of Education are currently working on a new professional agreement. In the meantime, please refer to the current agreement for pay and benefits for the 2025‑26 school year.
