Job OverviewThe Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking an Academic Support Aide for the school year. The district is a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 students from Pre‑K through grade 12. The district values racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity. The academic and extracurricular aim is to ensure social and emotional learning growth for students with opportunities such as a 1:1 initiative and the You Media Center, a digital learning lab offering 3‑D printing, graphic design, and videography.
PositionSummary
The Academic Support Aide – General Education Liaison and District Representative serves as the district-designated representative and general education team member for Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs) and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), primarily for nonpublic school students. This position participates in meetings to provide a general education perspective, supports compliance with state and federal special education requirements, and represents district procedures. The role also serves as a backup District Representative for ETR and IEP meetings throughout the district as needed.
EssentialFunctions
- Attend assigned ETR and IEP meetings.
- Serve as the required general education team member.
- Act as the district representative during assigned meetings.
- Provide input regarding general education curriculum and educational opportunities.
- Collaborate with families, school personnel, and evaluation team members.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with district, state, and federal requirements.
- Valid Ohio teaching license.
- Knowledge of general education curriculum and special education processes.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Effective oral communication skills.
- Ability to analyze information, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to collaborate professionally with staff, families, and community partners.
- Ability to use standard office equipment and technology.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and travel between district locations as needed.
- Work is performed primarily in an office and school environment.
- Frequent interaction with staff, students, families, and community partners.
- May require attendance at meetings outside of the regular workday.
Training is provided by the district at no cost.
Wage
: $25.00 per hour.
Workload
:
Up to 28 hours per week, hours and days assigned by the Director of Student Services.
