Position: Preschool Teacher (General Education) - Clark Early Learning Center

Job Description

The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Preschool Teacher at Clark Early Learning Center for the  school year.

The district is nationally ranked with approximately 7,500 Pre‑K through grade 12 students and 17 state‑of‑the‑art buildings. Clark Early Learning Center is a 5‑Star rated elementary school serving roughly 350 students ages three through five. Our mission is to support social and emotional learning growth for all students and celebrate the diversity of our community.

Qualifications
  • Current licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education with certification to teach Preschool.
  • Possession of or in the process of applying for the Reading Endorsement or having passed Praxis 5203 (Teaching Reading: Elementary Education).
  • Flexibility in work schedule and willingness to participate in professional development sessions.
  • Willingness to serve on teams.
  • Ability to relate to and teach students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to teach students with special needs and English Language Learners.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching.
Responsibilities
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, and provide individualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of each student.
  • Manage an organized and professional classroom conducive to learning and the development of the whole child.
  • Foster a cooperative and respectful partnership with families, encouraging parent involvement through observations and volunteer opportunities.
  • Engage at‑risk students actively in the learning process, using appropriate strategies, activities, and materials that reflect understanding of all students’ learning styles.
  • Recognize the needs of individual students and the entire group, offering support and flexibility as needed.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of educators and administrators to achieve district goals.
  • Utilize technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Support and remain patient with preschool students as they learn social‑emotional skills.
  • Participate in professional development activities aligned with district and building goals, subject content, and student needs.
  • Maintain a flexible, solution‑focused mindset at all times.
  • Show enthusiasm for work and spread joy to students, colleagues, and families.
What We Offer

As a contracted employee, you will work 183 days per year, 7.25 hours per day.

Starting salary is in accordance with the negotiated agreement and increases with experience and education. Contracted employees receive competitive benefits. All employees receive professional development. For the 2025‑26 school year, salary and benefit details are based on the current Springfield Education Association (SEA) negotiated agreement.
