Job Description

Who We Are:

The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Preschool Teacher at Clark Early Learning Center for the 2026‑2027 school year. We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre‑K through grade 12 students in a vibrant learning community of 17 state‑of‑the‑art buildings. Our district values racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity. Our academic and extracurricular programs aim to ensure social and emotional learning growth for students with a wealth of opportunities, including a 1:1 initiative and the You Media Center, a digital learning lab offering 3‑D printing, graphic design, and videography.

Clark Early Learning Center is a 5‑Star rated elementary school serving roughly 350 students, ages three through five. We are Wildcats!

Requirements
  • Current licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education with certification to teach Preschool.
  • Possession of or in the process of applying for the Reading Endorsement or having passed Praxis 5203 (Teaching Reading: Elementary Education).
  • Be flexible in work schedule and willing to attend professional development sessions.
  • Be willing to serve on teams.
  • Have ability to relate to and teach students with diverse backgrounds.
  • Have ability to teach students with special needs and English Language Learners.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm in your role.
Responsibilities
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of each student.
  • Manage an organized and professional classroom conducive to learning and the development of the whole child.
  • Foster a cooperative and respectful partnership with families and encourage parent involvement through classroom observations and volunteer opportunities.
  • Actively engage at‑risk students, planning and using appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of learning styles and needs of all students including those with special needs and ELLs.
  • Recognize the needs of individual students and the entire group and offer support and flexibility as needed.
  • Work as part of a cooperative and diverse team of educators and administrators to carry out district goals.
  • Utilize technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Support and remain patient with preschool students as they learn social‑emotional skills.
  • Participate in professional development activities aligned with district and building goals, assigned subject content, and varied student needs.
  • Remain flexible, willing to compromise, and maintain a solution‑focused mindset at all times.
  • Be enthusiastic about your work and spread joy to students, colleagues, and families whenever possible.
What We Offer

As a contracted employee, you will work 183 days per year, 7.25 hours per day.

Starting salary is in accordance with the negotiated agreement, increases with experience and education.

Contracted employees receive competitive benefits. All employees receive professional development.

The Springfield Education Association and the Board of Education are working on a new professional agreement. Please refer to the current agreement for pay and benefits in place for the 2025‑26 school year.
