We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design custom equipment for the metal casting industry. The role is full‑time, on‑site in Springfield, Ohio.
Responsibilities- Manage project from design through installation
- Perform analysis to develop design options for structures, systems and components to meet customer requirements
- Review the accuracy and feasibility of all drawings and bill of material releases
- Participate in engineering & design solutions including applications, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, & safety
- Utilize Solid Works design software to perform engineering and design tasks
- Leverage AutoCAD and other design tools to ensure work is completed efficiently
- Provide application engineering support and cost projections for Sales
- Provide technical support for service department and direct customer service
- Conduct research & development for new products
- Drive implementation of standardization and modularization of product lines
- Conduct cost analysis to determine profitability and future sales prices
- Direct interaction with customers
- Work independently and with a team
- Support & assist other areas as needed
- Always represent Palmer in a positive and professional manner
- Bachelor’s or associate degree with minimum 3 years of mechanical engineering experience in a related field
- 3D modeling experience utilizing Solid Works required
- AutoCAD experience required
- Solid Works PDM experience preferred
- Industrial machine shop or industrial manufacturing experience preferred
- Foundry operations or bulk material handling experience preferred
- Project Management experience preferred
- Familiarity with ERP Systems, SAP preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word) and Adobe Acrobat
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Strong organizational and detailed analytical skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects and complete work in a timely manner with minimal supervision
- Proven ability to initiate and support change to the organization
- Ability to interact with all levels of management at the local and division levels
- Physical requirements:
Ability to sit and/or stand/walk for extended periods of time; navigate stairs and congested work spaces several times daily; bend, kneel, & reach overhead
