ResponsibilitiesWithin the Benefits Plus division, this position receives and responds to information and other computer-generated reports regarding over payment/over issuances in public assistance programs. The position is responsible for conducting field and in-office investigations regarding fraud and/or non-fraud over payments and underpayments: studies reports, compares data with case records & contacts assistance groups, obtains necessary verification, computes budget, determines eligibility, reviews CRIS-E and compares records for potential leads, confers with and advises caseworkers on active or closed cases, picks up payments made to the Prosecutor due to referral/diversion, calculates over payments & underpayments of all programs.
Evaluates results of investigation and prepares summary and other necessary documentation, reports progress of investigation; refers corrective actions needed to caseworkers; appears at state hearings or court as needed; answers routine inquiries regarding programs from clients, other community agencies or officials. Performs related clerical tasks: types reports, updates files, copies records, attends meetings, seminars, training.
