The Employee Health Specialist is an RN who is responsible for assisting with the coordination of employee immunization programs, respiratory protection program, light duty accommodation requests, communicable disease screening and exposure management. The Employee Health Specialist – Registered Nurse (RN) works closely with the Infection Control, Employee Health and Professional Development Nurse and the Human Resources Department to manage fitness for duty, leave of absence, and workers compensation for employee injury management.
This position reports to the Quality Nurse Director.
- Assists with appropriate follow-up on exposures to assure regulatory compliance and proper treatment of affected employees with exposures to blood borne pathogen exposures and communicable disease exposures.
- Assists with coordinating staff immunizations, TB screening process, color discrimination testing, respirator fit testing, and communicable and blood borne exposure management.
- Assists the Infection Control, Employee Health and Professional Development Nurse and the Human Resources Department with the coordination of care for employees with work related injuries and successful return to work and for OSHA log management.
- Assists with reviewing employee injury event reports and coordinating follow-up with managers where safety or improved work practice needs exist.
- Maintains awareness and working knowledge of guidelines and recommendations that are published by regulatory accrediting agencies and professional organizations related to employee health.
- Assists with the reviews, developments, and implementation of policies, procedures and plans regarding employee health.
- Assists with maintaining employee health information through the electronic employee health system (Agility).
- Assists with setting up in-services, annual regulatory education, and development of additional education related to employee health.
- Assists with providing reports to Infection Control and PI committees to monitor employee health information such as injuries, vaccination rates, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Registered Nurse - licensed in State of Ohio.
- CPR (BLS) required
- Minimum of one (1) year of Occupational Health/Employee Health experience preferred.
- Must possess and maintain current knowledge of applicable employee health related regulations and recommendations by agencies and governing bodies such as CMS, CDC, BWC, ODH, HFAP, etc.
