Job Description

Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) at Springfield Regional Medical Center. Provide patient care under the guidance of a supervising Occupational Therapist or Licensed Occupational Therapist.

Responsibilities
  • Under guidance of supervising OTR/L, acquire pertinent information and implement comprehensive program using varied techniques and treatment activities.
  • Provide treatment to diverse diagnostic populations and complete supporting documentation according to hospital policy and State Practice Act.
  • Instruct care giver/family members in home exercise program as related to patient’s functional and self-care status.
  • Demonstrate appropriate and effective written, verbal, and nonverbal communication with team members through the continuum of care.
  • Assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function of participation in rehabilitation; make appropriate interventions to reduce pain after consulting with supervising OTR/L and make appropriate physician contact as indicated.
Qualifications
  • Current state licensure as a certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Previous experience in rehabilitation or acute care preferred.
  • Current BLS/CPR required.
  • Full mobility and ability to participate in vigorous activity.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with all constituents (patients, families, peers, and other healthcare team members).
  • Must be physically able to lift, support, and move patients.
