Full-Time MRI Technologist

Join our team and take the next step in your career! We're seeking a dedicated MRI Technologist to provide exceptional patient care in a collaborative, supportive environment.

The MRI Tech is responsible for daily modality operations. They perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) according to established protocols and work closely under the direction of the Radiologist and other physicians. They are also expected to contribute to the training and onboarding of new employees and assist in supervision of MRI students.

Essential functions include completing assigned tasks in a time frame appropriate for the situation; demonstrating flexibility to fluctuation in workload. They must select and operate the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results. They apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others. They properly position the patient on the MRI scanning cradle to obtain desired anatomic position;

input patient information and select scan parameters for specific exam; scan patients according to established protocol and physician request; perform IV injections and have knowledge of use and care of existing IV's; administer magnetic contrast agents specific to procedure; manipulate images using a wide variety of available computer functions to optimally visualize desired anatomy; perform quality assurance tests as specified by department protocol;

demonstrate and maintain clinical competency as required for the department.

They demonstrate knowledge of direct patient care by evaluating the patient, verifying patient , and related information to assure appropriate procedure is performed; explain procedure to patient; prepare patient for procedure by obtaining and recording patient history and consent form (if applicable); properly screen all patients for metal safety; ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety during procedure; monitor condition of patient and medical equipment that may be disturbed due to the nature of exam and report changes to patient care services;

troubleshoot equipment during malfunction in absence of service engineer and report malfunction to radiology maintenance/supervisor.

They participate in the education/instruction of students and the orientation of new staff. They participate in performance improvement projects; assist department in achieving successful results in all federal, state and local agency audits. They select appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters. They maintain controlled access to the magnet room and Zone 2, 3 and 4.

QC duties/maintenance of QC. They work closely with other modalities and departments. They oversee quality control duties and maintenance of quality control.

Education:

Associate's from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred).

Required Licensing &

Certifications:

MRI Registry from an accredited organization (ARRT), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) (required);
State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed); BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH).

OR Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology (required), Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with (RDMS), (ARRT (S)), Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTCB);
Advanced MRI Registry (MR) (preferred, or must obtain within two years);
State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed); BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH).

Experience:

1 year of experience in MRI department in hospital setting (preferred).
