Position Summary
:
The Working Supervisor for Aerospace Lighting & Assemblies at Woodrow is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for directing day‑to‑day production operations while actively participating in the manufacturing process. This position oversees the assembly, testing, and shipment of certified aerospace lighting systems and assemblies in full compliance with AS9100 Rev D quality management standards, FAA regulations, and customer contractual requirements. The Working Supervisor bridges the gap between management and the production floor — ensuring orders are fulfilled on time, quality standards are upheld, and the team operates safely and efficiently.
Order Management
- Review and interpret customer purchase orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and work orders for accuracy and completeness
- Coordinate with the customer service and sales teams to confirm delivery requirements, lead times, and order priorities
- Plan and schedule production runs to meet customer due dates and on‑time delivery (OTD) targets
- Communicate order status, potential delays, and capacity constraints to internal stakeholders and customers as required
- Ensure all traceability documentation, certifications of conformance (CoC), and shipping paperwork are complete and accurate prior to shipment
- Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and customer‑driven specification changes, updating work instructions and production schedules accordingly
- Support customer audits, source inspections, and first article inspection (FAI) activities
- Actively work alongside production staff performing assembly, wiring, soldering, testing, and inspection of aerospace lighting and assembly products
- Assign work to production technicians and assembly operators based on skill level, capacity, and order priority
- Monitor production output, efficiency, and labor utilization; take corrective action when output deviates from plan
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and assembly instructions
- Ensure proper setup and operation of assembly fixtures, test equipment, torque tools, and soldering stations
- Conduct daily production meetings (tier boards / stand‑ups) to communicate goals, status, and safety topics
- Identify and remove production bottlenecks and participate in continuous improvement activities (Kaizen, 5S, Lean Manufacturing)
- Manage material flow to ensure kits are staged, parts are available, and shortages are escalated to planning/procurement
- Maintain accurate time and attendance, labor tracking, and production records in the MRP/ERP system
- Ensure all production activities conform to AS9100 Rev D requirements, approved quality plans, and applicable regulatory standards (FAA, EASA, MIL‑SPEC as applicable)
- Enforce use of approved work instructions, traveler documents, and quality records on the production floor
- Perform in‑process inspections and first‑article inspections (FAI) per AS9100 and customer‑specific quality requirements
- Identify, segregate, and disposition nonconforming material (NCM) in accordance with the documented nonconforming product process
- Initiate and support Corrective Action / Preventive Action (CAPA) processes for quality escapes, customer complaints, and internal findings
- Participate in internal audits, customer audits, and AS9100 third‑party surveillance audits; implement audit findings and close out observations
- Maintain product traceability from raw materials through final shipment including lot/batch records, serialization, and Certificate of Conformance (CoC) documentation
