General Summary of Duties

Assists in fabrication and build tools, jigs, and fixtures required for production.

Supervision Given

None

Physical Demands

Requires frequent bending, stooping, stretching, and prolonged standing. May be required to lift up to 25 pounds continuously throughout an Ten (10) hour shift. Requires normal vision and hearing range. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Typical Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in a factory environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Operates machinery, including CNC machines, required to build necessary tooling. Knowledgeable in operation of most lathe room machinery including end mills and grinders.

Computes, dimensions, measures, and marks stock for machining.

Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances, using measuring instruments.

Reviews requirements and sorts into compatibility factors such as quantity and shape of parts, type, size, and gauge of material to maximize material utilization and minimize machine set-up and operation.

Enters computer commands to retrieve stored data, such as simulated patterns or templates. Calculates and codes machine controlling criteria, such as type and size of cutting and drilling tools, start point, speed, and utilizing knowledge of CNC machine operation.

Maintains and keeps an orderly work area, and follows prescribed safety regulations.

Duties to be performed in a safe manner with attention to quality.

Reads blueprints and can use calipers and micrometers.

Other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience

High School Diploma or GED required
Previous experience with machine operations required, specifically Okuma CNC Lathe.

Other Requirements

Steel-toed shoes and safety glasses required while performing duties in production areas.
Maintain organized schedules and filing
Some computer literacy and data entry knowledge.
