SPN seeks motivated, passionate, committed individuals who can help us build community-led change, support resident leaders, build relationships with area providers and partner organizations, and innovate new ways of community development, leadership, investment, and engagement. No one program can solve the academic and social issues predicated by multiple out-of-school traumas and social challenges. It is important to note that in this regard, Springfield, like many other urban communities, faces the economic stresses of a global marketplace and the continued fallout from the COVID pandemic.

This and other social/political forces have resulted in the north-south geography of the city, reflecting income disparities and racial divisions. Our programs respond most directly to the opportunity gaps in low income communities by providing coordinated opportunities arranged with and through multiple service providers which include multiple layers of educational, social, emotional, and physical activity experiences. This approach has been developed over the past eight years of service to the Springfield community, in which we regularly engage, listen, and respond to the needs and desires of residents.

Springfield Promise Neighborhood's work is based on the value that communities working together to respond directly to their needs will result in the longest lasting impact. To this end, Springfield Promise Neighborhood regularly recruits and employs residents to help develop the resources, services, and programs that will be of most benefit to the community.

* Design and coordinate extended learning opportunities for youth that provide educational, enrichment, and Prevention activities. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.

Member Duties : YOUTH PREVENTION COORDINATOR Develop partnerships that provide educational opportunities for parents and children living in target neighborhoods or attending target schools who are in need of academic or social skill recovery.

Activities:

Conduct meetings with partnership organizations working in the areas of youth prevention, and family education to assist in coordination and communication between supportive programs; create an ongoing record of family and child development opportunities that can be shared and advertised to families; work with staff develop new or revised approaches to student and family educational development.
