The Charge Nurse manages the operations of the department. They are the leader who provides support, mentorship, and guidance to those who provide direct patient care. The Charge Nurse will coordinate the delivery of patient care by determining staffing needs and making patient assignments by choosing the right assignment for the right person. They ensure that all patients receive timely, safe, effective and high quality care.
The Charge Nurse coordinates the patient’s plan of care with the bedside nurse, sets expectations regarding professional conduct, and serves as a resource for the patient care unit. The Charge Nurse holds direct and indirect care providers accountable for their professional responsibilities and adherence to regulatory guidelines. All duties are performed in a manner consistent with Mercy’s Mission, Values and Service Standards.

Up to $20,000 sign‑on bonus available for night shift only – no contract.
Incentives- New Graduate: $5,000 sign‑on bonus (1–2 years RN experience)
- 3‑4 years RN experience: $13,000 sign‑on bonus
- 5+ years RN experience: $15,000 sign‑on bonus
- $20,000 sign‑on bonus for >5 years RN experience
- Up to $20,000 loan forgiveness for new graduate nurses
- Tuition reimbursement up to $2,000 per year
- $3,000 relocation assistance (full‑time only)
- Weekend differential for qualifying hours between 3 pm–7 am
- Weekend option days: WEO rates + weekend differential
- Weekend option nights: WEO rates + weekend differential + straight night shift differential
- New increased weekend option differential: $10.00 for RN
- Day‑one comprehensive medical, dental & vision insurance
- PTO/Vacation – Frontload up to 80 hours for experienced RNs (full‑time only)

- Education:
Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program - Licensure:
Must obtain and maintain a current RN license in the hiring state or applicable compact, and meet all state board of nursing requirements - Certifications:
Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of a course within 30 days of hire
- Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Prolonged standing and walking each shift
- Must be able to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
Unit 4C serves the medical‑cardiac population, managing chronic and acute onset diseases while balancing the need for telemetry and cardiac management. Patients have multisystem management needs such as heart failure, respiratory distress, unmanageable dysrhythmias, pneumonia, sepsis, COPD, diabetes, and gastrointestinal conditions. The unit also coordinates care for patients requiring cath lab, angio, dialysis, outpatient infusion/chemo, and anti‑coagulation therapies.
