Job Overview
Security Officers are responsible for protecting the property, assets, and people within an assigned site including patrols, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings and access points, and ensuring the safety and security of all individuals. The Security Officer will enforce applicable laws, regulations, and site policies to prevent criminal activity and ensure a safe environment. The main purpose of a Security Officer with Aegis Protective Services is to “observe and report.”
Responsibilities- Observe and report by monitoring and patrolling assigned areas; conduct regular inspections to identify and deter potential security risks, illegal activity, or breaches.
- Operate and monitor surveillance equipment to ensure the security of the premises.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with site and company staff regarding security matters.
- Complete detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records of security-related activities when required.
- Respond promptly to alarms and incidents and take appropriate action.
- Provide excellent service by assisting visitors and employees with inquiries and concerns.
- Manage conflicts and disturbances in a calm and professional manner.
- Work in cooperation with law enforcement agencies as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to security functions and processes.
Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field (preferred). Experience in a school setting is a plus.
- Strong observational and problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- First Aid and CPR certification (desirable).
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to see, hear, speak, and write clearly to communicate with employees and/or customers.
- Experience in pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting up to 50 lbs.; ability to climb stairs, walk, and stand for extended periods.
- Normal vision or corrected by glasses/contacts; able to read and view normally.
- General computer knowledge and ability to adapt to software easily.
