Job Overview
DSL Express and partners are hiring Class A CDL Solo OTR Truck Drivers for OTR and Teams to run our modernized fleet. We require company drivers with 2+ years of experience and a decent MVR/PSP score. We are hiring rightaway, seeking drivers from Ohio and the Springfield, OH area (and other states). Our nationwide OTR routes mean location is flexible. Pay is respectable;
even low‑performing full‑time drivers earn at least $104,000 per year, with higher earnings for higher performance.

Pay is performance based. We offer 30% of gross in percentage pay, with the option to switch to mileage pay anytime. Full‑time drivers typically earn $1,900–$2,400 per week during slow season and $2,100–$2,400 during peak, with occasional highs exceeding $2,700. Our data shows 87% of drivers chose percentage pay in 2025, and top performers earned up to $145,000.
Preferred Percentage Based Solo Driver Pay- Up to 30% line haul plus bonuses
- Average pay in slow season: $1,900–$2,100, rare best weeks about $2,400, rare slow weeks $1,500
- Average pay in peak season: $2,100–$2,400, rare best weeks about $2,700, rare slow weeks $1,900
- Average miles: 2,000–2,500 in slow, up to ~3,000 in busy; reduces mileage on percentage to save fuel
- Option to switch anytime to up to 60¢ plus bonuses, up to 65¢ for manual drivers
- Average miles per week: 2,500–3,600
- Gross income: roughly $1,600–$2,400 per week (automatic lower)
- Up to 75¢ per mile plus bonuses
- Average miles: 5,500–7,000 per week
- Gross income: $4,100–$5,200 total split; $2,000–$2,600 per team driver per week
- Note:
This is not a team market currently; solos on percentage generally do better
- Must have Class A CDL. Additional endorsements are a bonus.
- Must have 2+ years CDL experience.
- Must have a clean MVR and reasonable PSP.

- Unlimited miles within ELD compliance; we encourage reduced miles on percentage for safety and profitability.
- OTR truck driving is demanding; must be healthy and willing to work.
- Minimum 2 years of driving experience.
- Valid CDL Class A without pending suspensions.
- Must be able to work with modern ELD systems.
- Must pass a drug test; no acceptances.
- Valid medical card issued.
- Stable work history and good references.
- No more than 3 moving violations and/or accidents in the last 3 years.
- No failed or refused drug or alcohol test in the last 4 years.
- No DWI/DUI/BAC convictions in the last 4 years.
- No reckless driving convictions in the last 3 years.
- No license suspension for points or unpaid tickets in the last 3 years.
- No more than 2 moving violations in the last year.
- Must provide at least 3 years of work history; non‑driving work history for past 3 years will be verified.
- No forced dispatch.
- Modern trucks, mostly automatic, some manuals; fridges and inverters stocked.
- Can take trucks home on hometime; parking options provided.
