Position: Application Technologist I

Overview

Application Technologist I Job - Springfield, Oregon. Arclin Inc is currently looking for an Applications Technologist I for our Springfield, OR location, reporting to the Applications Engineer within the Growth and Innovation Team. This role supports product development, laboratory analysis, and field application testing in accordance with key company growth objectives. While ensuring the maintenance of a safe, clean and well-organized laboratory workspace, this employee will conform to all Arclin policies, procedures and applicable HSE and OSHA rules and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized workspace in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with the ability to efficiently multi-task.
  • Convert written and verbal instructions into actions related to new product development in the building construction materials space.
  • Conduct laboratory activities including coating development, paper and nonwoven converting, raw material evaluations, and final product assessment through applications testing.
  • Demonstrate a desire to work with and understand a wide variety of coating chemistries as well as application technologies.
  • Record the results of laboratory experiments and field application testing in an organized and concise manner using an electronic lab notebook system.
  • Willingness to complete carpentry related tasks and organize logistics associated with preparing and shipping samples for evaluation at third party laboratories.
  • Provide technical support to the Applications Engineer as well as the other peers within the Growth and Innovation team.
Job Requirements
  • Diploma from a secondary technical school / community college (STEM degrees are preferred)
  • Experience with both chemical laboratory equipment and wood shop equipment
  • 1-3 years of experience working in an industrial laboratory environment is preferred
  • Demonstrate ability of being self-starting / independent
  • Proven track record of efficient time management skills and attention to detail
  • A willingness to learn and an openness to new ideas and concepts
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
