Peace Health is seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist for a full-time position in the Operating Room at Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, Oregon. Consider joining our Surgery team in the following role:
- 1.00 FTE Day shift Surgical Technologist
- Work four 10-hour shifts each week, 0645 - 1715
- 21 Main OR suites
- Da Vinci Robots

Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend is a beautiful 350-bed acute care hospital with level II trauma center, situated along the Mckenzie River in Springfield, Oregon. Job SummaryThis position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.
Details of the position- Arrange and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team.
- Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.
- Assist in preparation and moving of patients.
- Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover.
- Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.
- Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Required:
Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Technologist Program AND a Surgical Technologist Certification from a nationally accredited certifying organization for surgical technologists. - In lieu of above, must have
1) completed a US Military Surgical Technologist Training Program and must have completed 16 hours of continuing education every two years, or
2) for those who have practiced surgical technology in a health care facility in Oregon or another state or as an employee of an agency or institution of the federal government for at least two of the three years prior to January 1, 2017, certification is not required but caregiver must have completed 16 hours of continuing education every two years. - Required:
Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support Certification - Required:
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs - Preferred: 1 year Experience as a surgical technologist in a full-service operating room
- Well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated (Required)
- Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others (Required)
- Ability to execute detailed procedures with accuracy and precision (Required)
- Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications (Required)
- Understanding of operating room protocols (Required)
- Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
- Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
- Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
- Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.
- Lift/Carry:
Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs. - Push/Pull:
Frequently up to 20 lbs. force.…
