Job Description
Walgreens is looking for a Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacists in daily pharmacy operations at a non‑specialty retail store.
Customer ExperienceEngage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied, etc.).
Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
OperationsUnder the supervision of the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager, utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring accurate entry, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine, and checking for possible interactions. Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
Report prescription errors immediately to pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and procedures related to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
Strictly adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all prescription dispensing activities.
Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required, and direct customers to the OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.
Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including those to physicians.
Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third‑party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Lead Pharmacy Department inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals. Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques, file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving prescription drugs.
Assist and support Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in analyzing and seeking to improve pharmacy financial, customer service and inventory performance data; review Rx KPIs with Store Manager and Healthcare Supervisor.
Possibly assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including collection and labeling of blood/urine samples, and coordinate clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, through medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums to enhance growth opportunities.
Support execution of the Pickup program.
Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies and remains clean, neat, and orderly in condition and appearance.
Coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the correct use of processes and tools to drive efficiency within the pharmacy.
Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal DevelopmentMaintain PTCB or ExCPT certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration.
Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits. Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including the latest news and developments.
External Basic Qualifications- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
