Job Description
Peace Health SHMC at Riverbend in Springfield, OR seeks an Exercise Specialist – Cardiac Rehab for a part‑time, 0.80 FTE day position. Salary range: $23.74–$35.62 per hour. Hiring rate depends on education, training, experience, collective bargaining terms, seniority, etc.
Job SummaryResponsible for providing wellness assessments, individual or group exercise programs, program development, implementation, instruction, and guidance following the plan‑of‑care and treatment of patients, ensuring quality service.
What you will do- Makes recommendations and assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures in a positive manner.
- Assesses patients and provides ongoing reassessments to develop an interdisciplinary plan of care. Conducts wellness assessments including submaximal cardiovascular, strength, endurance, flexibility and body composition.
- Participates in a team approach in the development and implementation of a treatment plan.
- Maintains appropriate clinical records, consistently documenting participant/program data.
- Makes recommendations relative to acquisition of new equipment and space needs.
- Coordinates activities with other rehab medicine services and hospital departments.
- Instructs patients, family members and caregivers on home exercise programs and self‑care. Develops and participates in educational in‑services.
- Develops, implements, participates in and assists with external wellness and health activities/programs targeting specific populations.
- Designs exercise programs based on wellness assessment data, creating positions on the exercise continuum. Assists in writing health‑promotion articles and program information for publications as appropriate.
- Counsels patients/clients on testing results, establishing appropriate fitness and health improvement goals.
- Bachelor’s Degree (required) in exercise science, physical education, wellness or related health field.
- Minimum of 1 year preferred clinical experience in a health/wellness/physical rehabilitation program.
- Knowledge of exercise testing protocols (required).
- Knowledge of indications/contra‑indications of exercise and training techniques, administration (required).
- Upon hire basic life support certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association (required).
- Clinical exercise physiologist credential (preferred).
