Job Description

Peace Health is seeking a Dietician I for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at Peace Health is $33.13 – $49.69. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating all aspects of nutrition care, consulting with other healthcare professionals as needed.

Details of the Position
  • Competent use of the Nutrition Care Process including nutrition assessment, identification of nutritional diagnosis, implementation of appropriate nutrition intervention, and formulation of patient specific goals, monitoring, evaluation, and follow up of outcomes.
  • Using evidence-based nutrition practice guidelines, provide nutrition education to patients and families in the outpatient and/or inpatient settings.
  • Provide consult services to other healthcare providers and participate in the interdisciplinary team.
  • Document in the EMR in accordance with policies, procedures and regulations.
  • When appropriate, make referrals to other services, agencies and community resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
  • Master's Degree Required in a related field of study. Caregivers who earned their RD license before 1/1/2024 when a bachelor's degree was sufficient will be grandfathered.
  • Successful completion of AND approved internship/training program.
  • Registered Dietitian required at hire or must pass Registration Exam within 180 days.
  • Licensed Dietitian - Oregon required for Outpatient and PHMG/Ambulatory Dietitians in OR. Inpatient Dietitians are not required to maintain state certification in OR.
Skills
  • Demonstrated skill in teaching adults and pediatrics of varying competency levels. (Required)
  • Must be able to design, implement, and evaluate instructional materials. (Required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. (Required)
  • Ability to interact with a variety of departments and work independently on numerous projects simultaneously. (Required)
  • Proficient in the use of computers including MS Office applications. (Required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs. (Required)
Department / Location Specific Notes

Bariatric Surgery Dietitians:

  • Provide one-on-one nutrition counseling, teaching group nutrition classes, and leading support groups.
  • Participate in program events, including information sessions, pre/postoperative weight loss groups and bariatric forums.
  • Specialist certification in Obesity and Weight management issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration required or must obtain within 12 months of hire.
Working Conditions Lifting
  • Frequent moving around work area.
  • Frequent grasping, reaching.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs.
  • Occasional squatting/kneeling/bending.
Environmental Conditions
  • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting or in office environment.
Mental/Visual
  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
