Job Summary
Operates electrocardiograph equipment (which may include treadmill tests, ECGs, Holter monitors, etc) to record the electromotive variations in heart muscle to provide data for diagnosis of heart ailments.
Essential Functions
* Performs EKGs, and may perform Holter monitors, event monitors and ambulatory blood pressure monitors on patient.
* Processes and edits EKGs.
* Charts confirmed EKGs. Records and files information related to tests performed.
* Cleans, adjusts and performs routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
* High School Diploma Preferred: or equivalent
Experience
* Required:
One year prior direct patient care experience required or completion of an EKG training program.
Credentials
* Required:
Upon Hire Basic Life Support
* Preferred: within 3 years Certified Cardiographic Technician
Skills
* Basic computer skills including MS Office applications. (Required)
* Understand and follow verbal and written instructions. (Required)
* Effective communication skills (Required)
Working Conditions
Lifting
* Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
* Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
* Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
* Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.
* Lift/Carry:
Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.
* Push/Pull:
Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force.
Environmental Conditions
* Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
* Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
* Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
Mental/Visual
* Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
* Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
