Description

Hourly Base Rate: $21.38 - $27.21

Job Summary:
- Under immediate supervision of the lead patient access clerk performs a variety of registration, admission, public relations, financial and medical service functions.
- Perform interviews for the purpose of initiating accounts.
- Evaluates information to determine appropriate flow of patient type, hospital service code, diagnosis, tests and procedures needed, medical necessity and priority.
- Determines appropriate documentation and form requirements based on medical and financial indicators.
- Secures information to assure rapid reimbursement
- Initiates collection activity by requesting co-payments, deposits and anticipated balance due.
- Provides education to patients related to medical necessity requirements.
- Receives and documents acceptance of cash, checks, credit card payments as well as patient valuables.
- Acts as liaison between the patient, visitors and others and of treatment authorization
- Provides information and answers questions about consent for treatment, assignment of benefits, acceptance of financial responsibility, release of records, patient rights and responsibilities and advance directives
- Maintains required documentation including patient medical records, logs and schedules, written and electronic. Identifies, responds, and announces all code phone and wall alarm activations.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Medical terminology strongly preferred
- Experience in medical setting preferred
