We are seeking an enthusiastic Volunteer Coordinator to build and manage a strong volunteer base for Devon Lawson's UWSWCD campaign. This part-time role (approximately 15-25 hours/week, flexible) will recruit, train, and oversee volunteers to support tasks like tabling at farmers' markets and community events, ensuring reliable grassroots support without inflating costs. The ideal candidate has experience in volunteer management and is passionate about community engagement in environmental causes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit volunteers through channels like social media, community partnerships, campus outreach, and events to build a diverse team aligned with the campaign's equity focus.
  • Train volunteers on campaign messaging, conservation issues (e.g., soil health, water resilience), and best practices for voter interaction.
  • Manage volunteer schedules, assignments, and retention for activities such as tabling at farmers' markets (e.g., Eugene Saturday Market), community fairs, or door-to-door canvassing.
  • Coordinate with the field director and campaign manager to integrate volunteers into GOTV efforts, amplifying outreach in key zones to boost turnout.
  • Track volunteer hours, performance, and feedback using simple tools (e.g., Google Sheets) to ensure effective support for ads, mailers, and events.
  • Organize appreciation events or incentives to maintain motivation and high engagement levels.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that empowers volunteers from varied backgrounds to contribute to Devon's vision.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in volunteer coordination for political campaigns, nonprofits, or community organizations.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to recruit, motivate, and manage diverse groups.
  • Familiarity with event planning and tools for volunteer management (e.g., Sign Up Genius , Mobilize).
  • Knowledge of Lane County communities and conservation topics is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends for events, with some physical activity.
  • Commitment to progressive values, environmental justice, and youth-led initiatives.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in community organizing, nonprofit management, or related field preferred.

This paid role ensures dedicated support to scale our efforts cost-effectively and drive voter mobilization.
