Job Summary
Peace Health is seeking a RN Charge Nurse for our Labor & Delivery Unit s part‑time position (0.75 FTE, Night Shift) offers designated charge pay of $6/hr and a night shift differential of $9.50/hr the base salary range for this role is $49.30 – $77.46 per hour.
Essential Functions- Coordinate patient care by shift and department.
- Supervise and assess clinical practice, directing and delegating to team members.
- Coach staff for performance to achieve individual and organizational goals, including orientation, competencies and evaluations.
- Develop the departmental team and collaborative relationships to achieve expected outcomes.
- Serve as a clinical and resource expert for the department.
- Communicate shift and team operational issues to management as appropriate.
- Ensure appropriate stewardship of resources.
- Adapt decision‑making style to the situation and level of authority for optimal outcomes, using collaborative decision making and effective communication.
- Identify and apply opportunities for clinical practice improvement and support staff in these initiatives.
- Ensure professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education: Degree from an accredited School of Nursing. BSN required within 36 months of hire.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years RN experience required; 3 years preferred.
- Credentials: State of Oregon nursing license. Upon hire, Basic Life Support required;
Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, and Electronic Fetal Monitoring AWHONN required within 6 months. - Skills: Demonstrated leadership skills; facilitation skills (preferred); knowledge of age‑specific principles of growth and development; ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family‑centered work environment;
Service Excellence behaviors; support and interpret medical center philosophy, policies and procedures; balance patient, staff and unit needs in decision‑making; staff development interest; excellent communication and problem‑solving skills; strong organizational skills; proficient computer skills with MS Office.
- BSN must be obtained within 36 months from the start date of the Charge Nurse role.
- Nurses may work in another unit if they have completed Care Connect training, unit‑specific competencies, and are deemed competent by a unit leader.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, and Electronic Fetal Monitoring AWHONN required within 6 months.
- Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without assistive equipment.
- Fine motor skills for precise procedures.
- Handle up to 45 lbs force when pushing/pulling; perform hands‑on CPR at least 20 mins using 100‑125 lbs of force (seldom or occasionally).
- Move around area frequently, with frequent sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling.
- Lifting non‑patient equipment up to 20 lbs occasionally and 5 lbs frequently.
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Tasks performed in noisy environment.
- Normal vision and hearing required (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
- Communication and accurate information exchange required.
