Position: Travel Neuro-Trauma ICU RN | Epic Pro, 1:2 Ratios, High Pay

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Neuro Trauma ICU position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring a minimum of 1 year of ICU experience and recent Epic proficiency.

Requirements
  • Active Oregon (OR) RN license required; pending license applications accepted with proof of application
  • Required certifications (must be active and in hand before start date): BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Preferred certifications: TNCC, TCAR, CCRN, CSC, SCRN, and TCRN
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required; 2 years preferred — candidates with 1 year will be considered if experience is from a large facility
  • Recent Epic experience required (within the last year preferred)
  • Prior trauma ICU experience required
  • Required clinical skills include: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multi-system organ failure care, thermoregulation (hypothermia/hyperthermia protocols including Arctic Sun), pre/post cardiac cath and intervention care, IV insulin protocols, chronic/acute renal failure management, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, IV insertion, continuous IV sedation, emergency and vasoactive medication titration, procedural sedation, cardiac drip titration, BiPAP/CPAP assistance, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, ventilated patient care, HFNC, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, ventilator management, infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE, surgical wound and wound vac care, and temporary pacer management
  • Nitric Oxide experience preferred; temporary pacer experience required
  • 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required
  • Previous Peace Health employees (travel or permanent) must disclose facility and dates of employment
Responsibilities
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Neuro Trauma ICU setting within a 385-bed nonprofit, Level II Trauma Center (short-term acute care)
  • Diverse patient population including medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases — common diagnoses include GIB, ETOH withdrawal, DKA, sepsis, ARDS, CVA, ICH, CHF, CKD, AKI, post-cardiac arrest, and MSOF
  • Specialized procedures performed on the unit include chest tube insertion, central line and PICC placement, bedside tracheostomy, Keo tube placement, IO insertion, intubation, massive transfusion, post-cardiac arrest cooling catheter placement, Nitric Oxide administration, cardiac cooling pad use, and femoral/radial sheath removal
  • Common equipment includes PA catheters, right and left Impella, ventilators, Cheeta, CRRT, IABP, Zoll cooling catheter, and Arctic Sun pads
  • Charting via Epic (recent experience required)
  • Weekends are scheduled based on unit needs — flexibility is required
  • Floating required between CVICU and NTICU, as well as to Telemetry, Acute Care (Neurology, Surgical, Ortho/Med), Observation, and ED boarding; float assignments are done in turns with a 4-hour orientation provided
  • No on-call requirements
  • 13-week contract
  • Provide complex critical care nursing to a high-acuity, mixed patient population including neuro, trauma, cardiac, and medical cases
  • Unit responsibilities include participation in codes, massive transfusion team response, and serving as backup for the Hospital Cardiac Arrest Team
  • Experienced travelers preferred — candidates with 2–3 prior completed travel assignments are strongly preferred; first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Local candidates are not accepted
  • Orientations are held bi-weekly on Mondays
  • No RTO restrictions
  • Scrubs in any color are acceptable; scrubs are not provided by the facility
  • Free parking available on site
  • All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
