Position: RN - Ortho Medical (Meal/Break)

Part Time, 0.8 FTE. Night Shift position (8 hour shifts). Salary range: $50.78 - $79.78.

Job Summary

Peace Health is seeking a RN for the Orthopedic Medical Unit to work as a Meal/Break nurse.

Essential Functions
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Document patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  • Direct and delegate care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  • Ensure own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Participate in the development of and maintain established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education
  • Degree from an accredited School of Nursing required.
Experience
  • Minimum one year RN experience required in an acute care facility; for RN Residents, successful completion of a training course/orientation and standard competencies within six months of hire.
Credentials
  • State of Oregon nursing license required.
  • Basic Life Support required upon hire.
Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age‑specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.
  • Ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and a patient/family‑centered work environment.
  • Ability to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills.
Working Conditions Lifting
  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without assistive equipment (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Push / Pull: frequently up to 45 lbs. force.
  • CPR: perform hands‑on CPR at least 20 minutes using 100‑125 lbs. of force; frequency seldom or occasionally.
  • Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
  • Bending / stooping / squatting / reaching / kneeling frequently.
  • Lifting non‑patient up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
Mental / Visual
  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
