Peace Health Sacred Heart is now accepting applications for the Coeta and Donald Barker Foundation Nurse Residency Program at Sacred Heart Medical Center Riverbend in Springfield, Oregon. This is an exceptional opportunity for new graduate nurses to join a program designed to foster technical expertise, compassionate care and professional growth.

Our 12‑month transition‑to‑practice program offers interactive, evidence‑based curriculum that builds clinical skills, leadership and confidence for the professional nurse role. • Medical/Surgical Units (Competency Development Pool):
  • Medical/Ortho, Surgical, Oncology, Neurology, Cardiology (OHVI4 and OHVI5), Rehab & Observation
• Potential Specialty Units:
  • NICU, Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, Pediatrics, Emergency Department, ICU/CVICU, OR & Behavioral Health.

• Recent RN graduate (within 12 months) or an RN licensed less than 12 months with less than 6 months of Acute Care experience
• Active Oregon RN license by date of hire
• American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by date of hire
• Able to participate in all program activities throughout the 12‑month residency period
• Ability to work a minimum of 36 hours/week, variable shifts and shift lengths and rotate per union standards
• Commitment to a 12‑month program and willingness to sign a 2‑year agreement

• Start dates are between August 10th – November 2nd 2026 and determined by several factors including: NCLEX (one retest attempt allowed), licensing, relocation and department needs

The salary range for this job opening at Peace Health is $50.78 – $79.78. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs
• Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards
• Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence
• Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development
• Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education

• Accredited School of Nursing
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

Experience

• Registered Nurse
• Upon Hire Basic Life Support

Skills

• Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age‑specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs
• See community specific document for each Unit/Department required credentials
• Demonstrated ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships and patient/family centered work environment
• Able to support and interpret medical center philosophy, policy and procedures
• Basic computer skills

• Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH)
• Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures
• Push/Pull:
  Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts)
• Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125…
