Territory Development Manager – Unilever Food Solutions
Location: Remote – Portland, OR
Purpose of the RoleAs a Territory Development Manager
, you will be responsible for driving sustainable business growth via Operators, Chains and Trade Partner engagement. You will be part of a multi-touchpoint integrated digital ecosystem to drive growth with new customers (Reach) and existing customers (Penetration). You will use data and CRM tools to plan and execute sales calls to establish yourself as a valuable partner and grow market share in your territory.
You will be accountable for delivering business targets such as Sales Growth, Reach & Penetration, Digital Engagement, and customer presentations with both Operators and Distributor Trade Partners. You are responsible for executing multi-touchpoint contact strategy online and face-to-face to generate demand for Food Solutions products and deliver a great customer experience. You will provide virtual culinary consultation to targeted operators.
- Drive sustainable business growth via Operators, Chains and Trade Partner engagement.
- Execute multi-touchpoint contact strategy online and face-to-face to generate demand for Food Solutions products.
- Deliver business targets including Sales Growth, Reach & Penetration, Digital Engagement, and customer presentations with Operators and Distributor Trade Partners.
- Provide virtual culinary consultation to targeted operators.
- Manage the customer journey with CBP, Win & Retain funnel, Contact Matrix and multi-channel engagement (20% Online Calls, 80% Face-to-Face).
- Coordinate customer orders monthly to ensure growth on target.
- Meet with Distributors/Trade Partners to expand assortment and source leads for customer follow-through.
- Build and nurture relationships with local Distributor Sales Reps (DSRs).
- Engage trade customers to gain alignment for Secondary Sales Data (SSD).
- Implement promotions related to key seasons and events.
- Ensure timely submission and settlement of claims.
- Use data to convert business insights into activation and solution selling.
- Utilize market trends to create concept solution selling.
- Lead customers to the right solutions and engage key stakeholders.
- Prepare visits with solution recommendations and use CRM (Salesforce) to manage workflow.
- Conduct F2F and virtual sampling, ideation, and cooking demos to secure opportunities or increase volume via menu applications.
- Follow up on calls to progress opportunities toward sale closure.
- CPG Food service Sales Experience (B2B).
- Culinary/Chef Selling experience and operator networks.
- Distributor Sales, Ingredient Sales, or Broker Sales experience.
- Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce).
- Operator experience and market/geographical knowledge.
- Food University background (e.g., CIA, Food & Hospitality).
- Experience in a multi-national corporate environment and understanding of corporate ways of working.
- Hunter mindset with appetite to create new demand (70% hunting vs 30% farming).
- Proficient with contemporary technology and AI tools; strong MS Office skills including Power BI and Excel.
- Entrepreneurial and proactive in creating mutually beneficial solutions for UFS and customers.
- Curiosity and market learning to stay ahead of food trends.
- Ability to sell premium brands using superior selling stories and culinary solutions.
- Bi-lingual is a plus (Spanish, Mandarin).
