We own and sustainably manage more than 2.4 million acres of timberland across California, Oregon, and Washington, employing Registered Professional Foresters, Wildlife Biologists, Botanists, and other professionals to steward our forests under a 100‑year plan.
Position SummaryWe are seeking a District Forester to manage the Company’s timberlands in Oregon. The selected candidate will work from either Eugene or Roseburg, Oregon.
Responsibilities- Implement all aspects of the timber harvest program, including harvest layout and permitting, administration of road building and logging contracts, and log quality control.
- Assist in the development of harvest budgets and forecasts.
- Collaborate on silvicultural programs such as reforestation, vegetation management, tree improvement, and inventory.
- Interact professionally and effectively with state regulatory agencies and diverse groups.
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies to protect Company lands from wildfires.
- Hike in remote mountainous regions using maps, compass, or GPS.
- Work may involve team or independent settings in remote areas, all seasons, and all weather conditions.
- Safely navigate hazardous mountain roads.
- Bachelor’s degree in forestry or a related field, or equivalent recent related work experience.
- At least one year of experience in harvest engineering and/or harvest unit layout in the Pacific Northwest is preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of operational and cost considerations of cable and ground‑based logging systems and forest road construction.
- Working knowledge of Oregon forest practice rules.
- Excellent organizational skills, self‑motivated, and a strong work ethic.
- Proficient with Word, Outlook, Excel, ArcGIS software; experience with Road Eng or CAD is preferred.
- Hold or obtain a valid Oregon driver’s license.

The general wage range for this position at Sierra Pacific Industries is from $65,000 to $110,000 per year, and is dependent upon a number of factors, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, knowledge, and/or education.
