Position: Electrician 3 - Springfield Plywood

Reports To: Lead Electrician

Department: SPW Maintenance

Hours per shift: Employee works four 12‑hour shifts, with three 10‑minute breaks, and 30‑minute unpaid lunch. Day: 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM;
Night: 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM

Wage: $38.10 – $41.98 (DOE)

Position Purpose

Maintain high levels of production by minimizing downtime through predictive and preventive maintenance on all equipment. Bring forth issues and resolve them through formal action planning. Work closely with all members of the Maintenance, Production, and Management teams.

Responsibilities
  • Must have a current State of Oregon Journeyman Electrician card.
  • Be familiar with the mill electrical system (MCCs, disconnects, machines, and conveying systems).
  • Read blueprints, install in compliance with code, and record completion prints.
  • Install conduit level and straight as required by code.
  • Troubleshoot and repair 120 Vac‑480 Vac control power.
  • Troubleshoot low‑voltage AC and DC, multi‑ and constant‑voltage power supplies.
  • Troubleshoot 3‑phase power, MCCs, motors, relay logic, and auxiliary contacts.
  • Understand machine center control/electrical systems and use Allen Bradley PLC programs, timers, counters, ladder logic, and force functions.
  • Perform special projects as assigned and work in confined spaces as required.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor for production and cleaning purposes.
  • Monitor and report electrical maintenance performance to the Electrical Department Supervisor.
  • Work with the controls technician to schedule all electrical personnel on projects or mill modifications to reduce contractor costs and improve mill electrician expertise.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and loss‑recovery opportunities; develop action plans to provide solutions.
  • Assist with plant optimizer, PLC network changes, HMI, Panel View, and Message View system configuration and backup.
Qualifications

Must have a current State of Oregon Journeyman Electrician Supervisor card.

Working Environment

Inside 50 % of the shift, average temperature 60 °F, ranging from 10 °F to 105 °F. Outside conditions 50 %. Workplace noise and vibration from machine operations and forklifts. Hazards as identified in the Job Hazard Analysis.

Safety

Perform only maintenance for which you are trained and keep body parts out of machinery. Always use the 14‑step lockout/tagout procedure before maintenance. Use proper body mechanics and PPE. Communicate with co‑workers and maintain awareness of stored energy.
