Position Summary
We are seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced Real Estate Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for managing the financial reporting, accounting, and analysis for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.
- Record and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank accounts.
- Review tenant leases to ensure accurate billing of rent, CAM charges, utilities, and other recoveries.
- Process and reconcile security deposits, tenant move‑ins/move‑outs, and lease‑related accounting adjustments.
- Assist in preparation of CAM reconciliations, real estate tax reconciliations, and tenant billings.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes for property operations and capital expenditures.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and track capital projects.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with property managers, leasing teams, and executives to resolve tenant and vendor issues.
- Assist with audits, tax filings, and lender reporting requirements.
- Provide financial analysis to support property acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3–5+ years of accounting experience (real estate or property management strongly preferred).
- Proficiency in property management/accounting software (Yardi, MRI, Infor, App Folio, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with CAM reconciliations, real estate tax, and utility billing.
- Familiarity with commercial and/or residential lease structures.
