A leading national builder specializing in complex Mission Critical, Advanced Manufacturing, and Industrial projects is seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Manager to join their Advanced Facilities team. This position plays a key role in ensuring all Mechanical/Electrical (M/E) systems on high-profile projects are installed, tested, and performing to the highest standards.
This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge facilities, partner with innovative clients, and join a high-performing team committed to safety, quality, and technical excellence.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the full commissioning lifecycle for large-scale Mission Critical projects—including planning, pre-functional activities, functional testing, and system validation.
- Develop commissioning plans, testing procedures, and turnover documentation.
- Review M/E design documents, identify quality concerns, and ensure constructability.
- Provide technical direction during installation, startup, and system performance verification.
- Oversee subcontractor and vendor commissioning efforts; verify deficiencies are resolved.
- Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, and field teams to maintain schedule and project objectives.
- Review and approve M/E shop drawings and system submittals.
- Support preconstruction efforts, including M/E scope development, system analysis, and budgeting.
- Serve as a client-facing representative while building strong long-term relationships.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvements and M/E best practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of M/E engineering, commissioning, or construction management experience (Mission Critical strongly preferred).
- Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, and building automation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret M/E drawings, specifications, and sequencing plans.
- Experience developing commissioning plans, test scripts, and system checklists.
- Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with clients.
- Proficiency with construction technology, scheduling tools, and BIM software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
