Senior Technical Support Engineer – Composite Materials

We are seeking a Senior Technical Support Engineer – Composite Materials to serve as a key technical resource for customers, distributors, and internal teams. This role combines hands-on engineering, customer technical support, product development, materials testing, and manufacturing process optimization. The ideal candidate will work directly with manufacturers to troubleshoot complex production challenges, evaluate new technologies, improve manufacturing processes, and help customers maximize the performance of composite materials and related products.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving, customer interaction, and applying engineering principles in real-world manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary technical resource for customers and distributors.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and process challenges involving composite materials and related applications.
  • Provide technical recommendations, training, and hands-on support at customer manufacturing facilities.
  • Support product implementation, qualification, and validation activities.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to improve product performance, quality, and efficiency.
  • Provide technical support for composite manufacturing applications, including:
    • Vacuum bagging
    • Prepreg and autoclave processing
    • Resin infusion
    • Wet Client-up
    • Composite tooling systems
    • Large Scale Additive Manufacturing (LSAM)
  • Evaluate customer manufacturing processes and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct laboratory and field testing to validate material and process performance.
  • Evaluate new products, product enhancements, technologies, and customer-specific solutions.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Production, Quality, Purchasing, and Sales teams on product development and improvement initiatives.
  • Support supplier qualification and supply chain development activities.
  • Prepare technical reports, application guides, datasheets, training materials, and other technical documentation.
  • Deliver customer training, product demonstrations, and technical presentations.
  • Contribute technical content for industry articles, videos, trade shows, and other technical events.
  • Stay current with emerging composite technologies, manufacturing processes, industry standards, and competitive developments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline;
    Master's preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in composite materials, process engineering, technical service, applications engineering, or technical support within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with composite manufacturing and processing techniques.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Vacuum bagging
    • Prepreg processing
    • Autoclave curing
    • Resin infusion
    • Wet Client-up
    • Composite tooling
    • Additive manufacturing
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable U.S. export control regulations (ITAR).
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%, both domestically and internationally.

  • In-depth knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing and materials data and translate findings into practical recommendations.
  • Strong technical reporting and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Experience with laboratory testing equipment and materials characterization methods is a plus.
  • Multilingual capabilities are highly valued.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to engineers, manufacturing personnel, customers, and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting aerospace or advanced composite manufacturing.
  • Experience working directly with external customers or manufacturing partners.
