Job Description:
Responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services on telecommunication towers and related equipment to ensure optimal network performance.
Key Essential Responsibility Areas (KERA)- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on telecommunication towers, antennas, radios, coax, and other wireless equipment.
- Respond to and complete service tickets according to customer specifications and deadlines.
- Assess issues, verify Scope of Work, and communicate needs or changes to the Service Superintendent or Project Manager.
- Identify and secure any necessary site access, permits, or equipment (lifts, cranes, safety gear, etc.).
- Ensure all required tools, test gear, and materials are available and in proper working order before mobilizing to site.
- Follow a work plan to organize tasks and ensure efficient use of time and resources while maintaining quality standards.
- Perform on-site testing, troubleshooting, and equipment swaps as necessary to restore or improve service.
- Maintain proper documentation of all work performed, including photos, test results, and service logs.
- Adhere to all safety standards and participate in safety audits as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of company vehicles, tools, and assigned job sites.
- Properly handle, store, and return customer-owned equipment (antennas, radio heads, etc.).
- Provide support to fellow technicians.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum 2–3 years of telecommunications tower experience (construction, service, or maintenance).
- Proficient in climbing towers and working at heights in various weather conditions.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for RF, fiber, and electrical systems.
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Basic computer and mobile app skills for ticketing, reporting, and testing software.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Approachable and able to work collaboratively with crew members, subcontractors, and customers.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications in telecommunications preferred.
- OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, and RF Awareness certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Physical, Mental, and Visual Effort:
- Continuous speaking, hearing, and visual effort.
- Requires climbing, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying heavy equipment frequently.
- Continuous mental and visual concentration requiring attention to detail and accuracy.
- Outdoor work in varying conditions (hot/cold, wind, etc.).
- Exposure to high noise levels and working at heights.
- Typical field service environment with frequent travel.
