We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Project Engineer to oversee and support multiple building projects from planning through execution. This role requires a strong understanding of subcontractor management, field operations, and experience with review of contract plans and specifications, project scheduling, cost forecasting, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will have a few construction projects under their belt performing subcontractor oversight for building projects, be proactive in identifying and resolving issues, ensure compliance at the site, and drive operational excellence with the team.

This position is based out of either Washington D.C. supporting Federal/Government projects. We relocate our teams based on the work that is available, combined with the development plans, skill sets and career goals of each team member. This means your Kiewit adventure is custom-designed to meet our shared needs.
Responsibilities- Perform contract compliance, quality control & field oversight of subcontractors on the project.
- Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
- Inspect field conditions to identify problems, inaccuracies, and potential cost‑saving measures.
- Take corrective actions as needed to resolve field issues.
- Review subordinates’ work for compliance with contract documents; address deficiencies and implement corrective measures.
- Project scheduling & coordination: develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software; collaborate with project management personnel to gather input and ensure schedule accuracy.
- Document control & change management, handle project closeout: manage document control processes including logging and tracking new issue drawings and contract documents; review new issue drawings for changes in conditions; quantify impacts and communicate with supervisor; distribute updated documents to field teams and ensure proper implementation.
- Cost forecasting & financial planning: prepare monthly cost projections using data from project management systems; develop quarterly cash flow projections to support financial planning.
- Operational improvement & leadership: recommend improvements to project operations including staffing, methods, and procedures; serve as managing project engineer/coordinator across multiple projects; provide supervision and on‑the‑job training for junior engineers and project staff.
- Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering or equivalent required.
- Minimum 5+ years’ work experience in construction or engineering, vertical construction is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience managing engineers and project subcontractors.
- Security clearance required; preferably Top Secret.
- Military background preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents.

$116,000/yr – $121,000/yr (actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location).
