General Description
Under the leadership of the Pastor of Music and Worship, the Director of Instrumental Music will direct the areas of the music ministry related to the orchestra and instrumental ensembles. The primary responsibility is to prepare the orchestra for morning worship services and special events. The Director of Instrumental Ministry also assists in planning worship that aligns with our philosophy of worship.
The position may occasionally include leading worship services.
- A member of Immanuel Bible Church and qualified to serve as a deacon in the church.
- Has a teachable spirit and a desire to work in a team-based environment. A desire to work collaboratively, take direction graciously and resolve conflict when necessary.
- A basic understanding of Reformed theology and its impact on corporate worship. An agreement with the Worship Core Values of Immanuel Bible Church and the Immanuel Bible Church Statement of Faith.
- An ability to shepherd and provide spiritual care to instrumentalists in the church.
- Select music, lead rehearsals and prepare instrumental ensembles for weekly worship.
- Provide leadership to the Youth Band and work collaboratively with the Director of Children’s and Youth Music.
- Administrate the planning and development of our annual Music Camp.
- An undergraduate degree in Music Education or Instrumental Music.
- Three years of professional experience
- An ability to present a Bible-based devotional at rehearsals.
- A working knowledge of music-related software including Pro Presenter, Planning Center Online and music notation software.
- The ability to write basic orchestrations as needed.
The Director Of Instrumental Ministry is a director-level position on the IBC staff. The position is a full-time (40 hours per week), salaried, exempt position. Compensation includes salary, full benefits, vacation and continuing education. Work hours and specific responsibilities are assigned by the Pastor of Worship.
