Registered Nurse

Nurses can work remotely; however, they must be able to physically come to TSA Headquarters in Springfield, VA for medical exam review training (typically held in the first month)

Hours of Operation: 9am-3pm

Pay: $55 hourly

• BSN or MSN degree
• Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• BLS
• Minimum of 2 years direct and relevant experience in Occupational Health, Employee Case Management and Medical Review Process. Fit-For-Duty evaluations and review of medical exam records.

• Reviews electronic AMC self-certification questionnaires that the system has flagged for additional medical review, applying OCMO protocols and TSA medical guidelines.
• Determines whether to clear the employee (under the medical direction of a TSA physician) or hold and identify what additional information is needed.
• Makes outbound contact with employees by phone or email within 24 hours to discuss medical concerns.
• Requests medical records from the employee's treating provider, reviews what comes back, then clears or drafts an actionable report for the OCMO physician.
• Performs records-based fitness-for-duty and FMLA reviews as assigned; drafts FFD determination letters for physician review and signature.
• Reviews TSO applicant and reinstatement medical exam records and recommends pass/fail status; coordinates candidate notification and appeals instructions.
• Documents every action and outcome in OCMO's medical records system; keeps all medical materials secure.
• Responds to all internal and external inquiries within 24 hours.
• Contributes to the Monthly Status Report and proactively recommends process improvements each quarter.
• Nurses recommend only — the OCMO physician or federal medical team decides. Not a personal services contract; no government supervision; no inherently governmental functions.
