EO Imagery ScientistThe Opportunity
Leverage advanced and specialized physics research expertise to test and analyze physical phenomena, conduct and shape R&D programs, and support S&T client challenges. Apply advanced consulting skills and extensive technical expertise, including full industry knowledge. Develop innovative solutions to complex problems. Work without considerable direction, and mentor and supervise team members.
Qualifications- 15+ years of experience in EO, remote sensing, image processing, or image science
- 4+ years of experience as an EO expert
- Experience exploiting the electromagnetic spectrum, including electro‑optical, to determine the occurrence and location of objects of interest
- Experience developing, testing, and evaluating new algorithms, processes, methodologies, and products using EO imagery, including utilizing advanced processing tools such as Python, MATLAB, and Google Earth Engine, to automate scientific processes of EO imagery data to aid analysis
- Experience communicating with a variety of technical and non‑technical audiences on availability and capabilities of EO imagery products, methodologies, procedures, and algorithms to enhance analysis
- Experience applying CV and machine learning (ML) techniques to EO imagery and data to address intelligence problems
- Knowledge of collection, phenomenology, image formation processes, and exploitation products
- Knowledge of the principles of remote sensing and imagery processing, and advanced exploitation methods
- TS/SCI clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Image Science, Remote Sensing, Earth Science, Physical Science, CS, Statistics, or a STEM field
- Experience acquiring new data, potential latency associated with acquisition, data formats, and security domains
- Experience pre‑processing and standardizing data to match existing data standards or be transformed into a usable state for labeling and model testing purposes
- Experience with collaboration, including with SAR Imagery Scientists to provide coincident EO imagery
- Knowledge of potential differences between new sensor characteristics and capabilities compared to currently utilized platforms
- Knowledge of potential differences in metadata, data format, and data structure characteristics regarding changes to databases, schemas, APIs, and other ETL‑related processes for ingestion and movement of data when integrating into the existing data operations pipeline
- Knowledge of how to investigate gaps in the emerging sensor capability that may need to be supplemented by other sources
- Master's degree in a Science field preferred;
Doctorate degree in a Science field a plus
TS/SCI clearance required. Selected applicants will undergo a security investigation and eligibility review for access to classified information.
CompensationProjected compensation range: $99,000.00 to $ (annualized USD). Salary determined by factors including location, education, skills, and contract‑specific affordability.
