Overview
Field Systems Engineer, Senior. This role combines technical skills with big-picture thinking to impact national security. As a Field Systems Engineer in the Counter-Unmanned Systems domain, you deploy, calibrate, and troubleshoot complex sensor suites in the field to deliver mission-critical situational awareness and modernize Counter-UxS capabilities.
Responsibilities- Deploy, calibrate, and troubleshoot complex sensor suites in the field to support mission-critical operations.
- Install, integrate, and configure C-UxS sensors, including radar, electro-optical/infrared cameras, and electronic warfare defeat systems.
- Characterize and troubleshoot interference or signal masking in complex spectral environments using spectrum analyzers (Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, or handheld analyzers).
- Support field operations and customer sites, ensuring sensors and networks meet performance requirements.
- 5+ years in systems or field engineering supporting mission-critical infrastructure or high-stakes large-scale deployments.
- Experience with RF theory, wave propagation, antenna gain, and signal-to-noise ratios.
- Experience with physical installation, integration, and configuration of C-UxS sensors (Radar, EO/IR, EW defeat systems).
- Experience with spectrum analysis and interference troubleshooting in complex spectral environments.
- Ability to travel at least 25% of the time to customer sites and test ranges.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a STEM field.
- Secret clearance (or eligibility) is required.
- Experience with Software Defined Radios (SDRs) and signal capture/processing.
- Experience with DoD or National Security programs.
- Experience conducting site surveys to optimize sensor placement based on LOS and RF obstructions.
- Experience with Tactical Networking (MANET, Link-16, or ADS-B integration) for air track deconfliction.
- Knowledge of C-UxS platforms such as AARTOS, NINJA, Enforce Air, or drone detection and mitigation systems.
