Job Overview
We are currently searching for an experienced Senior Roadway Engineer to support our Mid Atlantic Region located in Springfield, VA
.
- Leading or assisting in the development of project designs and directing engineers and designers to successfully execute and deliver project work, while implementing client-focused strategies
- Developing and checking engineering estimates, construction specifications, and coordinating with subconsultants
- Applying established and well-defined engineering techniques, procedures, policies, or standards
- Preparing reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and designs for projects
- Working in a team environment to deliver a range of transportation and civil design projects and participating in business development efforts and meetings with clients
- Participating in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies; coordinating work to ensure best practices with all team members
- Identifying and analyzing problems using reasoning to arrive at conclusions
- Applying standard practices and techniques to accomplish work assignments
- Understanding and adhering to assigned phase and task schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of the project
- Adhering to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual
- BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
- 8 – 15+ years relevant experience in roadway design
- Proven skills in meeting DOT expectations, schedules, and budgets
- Strong written and communication skills
- VOLEV experience preferred but not required
- PE preferred
- Experienced in DOT design methods, plan preparation, standards, and specifications
- Proficient with Micro Station and Open Roads Designer
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment
- Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
