Lead Substation Engineer

Leidos is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to design and deliver high voltage substation projects supporting critical infrastructure and utility clients. In this role, you will lead multi disciplinary design efforts, develop protection and control schematics, bus layouts, grounding and lightning protection, and ensure NESC, IEEE, and client standard compliance. You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with project managers and stakeholders, support proposals and estimates, and drive quality, safety, and innovation in a collaborative, mission driven environment with strong growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end engineering for high-voltage substation projects
• Develop physical, protection, and control designs and calculations
• Ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, NEC, and utility standards
• Review and approve drawings, specs, and engineering deliverables
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, and internal disciplines
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
• Support estimates, proposals, and project schedules
• Perform grounding, lightning protection, and equipment sizing studies
• Address field issues, RFIs, and design changes during construction
• Drive quality, safety, and continuous improvement in designs
