Our work depends on a TS/SCI‑cleared Dev Ops Engineer, Senior to support an intelligence customer in St. Louis, MO or Springfield, VA. In this role, you will help design and enhance mission‑critical capabilities.
Role OverviewYou will join the Common Operations Release Environment (CORE) team, providing high‑quality, cost‑effective cloud and on‑prem solutions. This is a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment where your expertise in cloud operations, automation, and platform services will directly enhance customer efficiency and operational effectiveness.
As a Senior Dev Ops Engineer, you will be responsible for automating, operating, and maintaining distributed and managed services, including the installation, configuration, and lifecycle management of platform infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Automate and optimize service deployments across development, test, and production environments
- Architect, build, and maintain on‑prem and cloud infrastructure supporting team and customer initiatives
- Maintain and enhance existing infrastructure, including autoscaling, new service onboarding, and cost optimization
- Integrate systems with enterprise authentication and access management services
- Establish and improve system monitoring while maintaining security compliance and best practices
- Administer production, staging, and development environments
- Manage, aggregate, and analyze server logs; monitor for system and security incidents
- Monitor and analyze system performance, including server load and resource utilization
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and build/deployment processes
- Apply configuration management disciplines to manage software versions, security patches, hardening, and documentation
- Enforce security and reliability best practices, driving initiatives such as access control and vulnerability testing
- Collaborate with A&A teams to maintain system authorization and security requirements
- Maintain clear documentation of designs and configurations to ensure operational continuity
- Track and follow up on engineering tasks, validating completion of operational solutions
- Manage the Operational Readiness Board, presenting at weekly meetings and assessing readiness for automation
- Track and ensure routine operational maintenance tasks are completed on schedule
- Participate in SAFe and Scrum ceremonies and development activities
- Provide on‑call support as required
- Experience with container platforms and images (Kubernetes, Docker, Open Shift)
- Strong understanding of Dev Ops principles and software/application development life cycles
- Experience with Git Lab or similar CI/CD and Dev Ops tooling
- Understanding of microservices architecture and design patterns
- Proficiency in Python, Bash, and shell scripting
- Knowledge of networking concepts, including load balancers, firewalls, and virtual/physical infrastructure design
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to manage time effectively and work independently
- Experience deploying and supporting on‑prem infrastructure
- Experience building deployment pipelines for Kubernetes environments using Git Lab and Helm
- Understanding of identity and access management and security controls (IAM, S3, SSH, VPN, etc.)
- Ability to write and leverage unit and functional tests
