Data Analyst, Data Engineer
Leidos is actively interviewing for a Mid‑Level Data Scientist to join our team in Springfield, VA.
This team member will collect, process, and perform data analysis and deliver data‑driven solutions to quantitatively improve the mission area of Maritime Features. Surface, Publications, Events, Dissemination, Source Assessment, and Metrics.

Primary Responsibilities- Collect, process data and perform data analysis.
- Integrate, protect and maintain data in DBMS.
- Clean, massage and organize data.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and present results in a clear manner.
- Communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise and actionable manner using storytelling/visualization.
- Assist with creation/deployment/maintenance of cloud applications to support migration of data and production processes.
- Assist with creation/maintenance of tools to extract feature data and meta‑data from a variety of sources, including Raster to vector, vector‑to‑text, text to vector and text database.
- Write/maintain Python scripts in ArcGIS to improve efficiency of the production process.
- Assist in providing support to Business Processing Re‑engineering.
- Perform data conversion/migration.
- Assist with development and performance of automated Business Analytics.
- Typically requires a BA degree and 4–8 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 2–6 years of prior relevant experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in data science, including the areas of data collection, processing, exploitation, transformation, services, modeling, and analytics.
- 1–3 years of experience using Tableau or equivalent Business Intelligence software and software server functions.
- 3–5 years of demonstrated programming skills with the ability to write/maintain scripts, including Python and Java, and familiar with querying with SQL. Knowledge and experience developing code using version control tools like Git and git‑adv, knowledge and data science, including the areas of data services, modeling, and analytics.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to be approved for a CI Poly.
- 1–3 years of demonstrated experience performing geospatial data management, including data type conversions and coordinate systems in latitude/longitude and UTM and their conversions, and knowledge of projections and their properties/conversions.
- Experience in combining digital cartography, computer technology, GIS cartographic and geospatial production techniques, remote sensing photography and digital data formats.
- Experience building dashboards/websites portraying data analytics.
- Experience cleansing, structuring large sets of data.
- Experience performing data analysis to examine data from a variety of angles to determine hidden values, weaknesses, trends, and opportunities.
- Knowledge of ESRI, ArcGIS/Arc Pro and Arc Server.
- Experience with ESRI Workflow Manager, WMX and TAM.
- Knowledge of database systems and architecture.
- Ability to write SQL.
- Understanding of cloud architecture and Dev Ops.
- Knowledge of symbolization rules.
- Knowledge of generalization rules.
- Experience working with geospatial data in a multi‑user enterprise environment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with data quality control tools, including ArcGIS Data Reviewer.
- Knowledge of metrics dissemination.
- Familiarity with emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, tools, and methodologies, with an understanding of their applications, implications, and integration into daily geospatial and intelligence workflows.
- Ability to convert structured data into structured formats.
