Position: Big Data Analyst (TS/SCI)

Location

Onsite in Herndon, VA, with occasional travel to Springfield, VA.

About The Team
  • We are a multi‑faceted software development and systems administration team building and maintaining software applications backed by a self‑managed cloud infrastructure with a true big‑data footprint (over 20 petabytes).
  • Our diverse background in mission support and software development serves as a catalyst to solve unique and challenging intelligence problems in support of special operations analysts.
  • Prototyping and frequent, iterative feedback are core to our delivery approach, anchored by a need to work quickly in support of our missions.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Perform and develop dataset evaluations and assessments to inform government decision making.
  • Shape data engineering approaches for analytic tradecraft improvements within our applications.
  • Identify and document gaps within our data corpus and analytical capabilities.
  • Work hand‑in‑hand with software developers to field requirements and provide feedback as changes are implemented into an application.
  • Work with end‑users to provide SME support for various data or application questions and requests.
Minimum Requirements
  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI and be willing and able to obtain a CI polygraph.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a data analyst, data scientist or similar.
  • Experience formulating a repeatable process for data evaluations and communicating findings to government officials.
  • In‑depth knowledge of technical data types, including Technical Telemetry Data and telecommunication protocol data such as cellular and Wi‑Fi.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self‑starter with excellent time‑management skills and the ability to independently manage multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced environments.
  • Experience working with Software Engineers to provide feedback and validate the technical implementation for custom applications.
  • Experience with a scripting language such as Python, SQL, Spark, or PySpark.
  • Must be able to work on‑site in Herndon, VA, with the ability to work in Springfield, VA as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to translate technical conclusions and present them to a broader audience.
  • Experience conducting geospatial analysis, including Activity‑Based Intelligence or Pattern of Life analysis.
  • Experience applying, improving, and documenting innovative analytic methodologies.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch/Kibana.
  • Experience in a customer‑facing role.
  • Familiarity with Git Lab and the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Experience working with Jupyter Notebooks or Apache Zeppelin.
  • Experience working with other intel analysts and/or special operations customers.
Pay Transparency
  • Base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is $ – $ annually.
