AWS Database Software Engineer

As an AWS Database Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and deploy end‑to‑end geospatial database solutions in a fast, agile environment. Your technical expertise will help clients overcome complex challenges with the latest architectural approaches, tools, and cloud technologies while ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity.

In this role you will master new tools, identify needed system improvements, and collaborate closely with clients and colleagues to deliver production‑ready systems that consider architecture, operating environment, and future scalability.

• 5+ years of experience in software with a cloud‑first development approach

• 4+ years of experience with enterprise data engineering development, including geospatial data

• 3+ years of experience with AWS services and cloud‑native architecture patterns, including ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS, SNS, EC2, RDS, Dynamo
  
  DB, IAM policies, security groups, and network security

• 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code, including AWS CDK, Terraform, or Cloud Formation

• Experience working with ETL/ELT pipeline development using AWS services

• Experience with data lakes, data warehousing, and analytics platforms

• Experience developing and deploying production geospatial solutions from concept to O&M

• TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph

• Bachelor’s degree

• Experience with Authority to Operate (ATO) processes and security documentation

• Experience with database administration and optimization, including Postgre
  
  SQL or Aurora Postgres with geospatial workloads

• Experience designing and optimizing spatial database schemas, spatial indexing strategies, and complex geospatial queries at scale

• Experience leading technical initiatives in large‑scale environments

• Experience with system design, including scalability and reliability

• Experience developing dashboards and monitoring systems to track streaming services

• Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements

• AWS Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Developer

• IAT Level II+ Certification such as Security+ or CISSP

Salary is determined by a range of factors including location, experience, and contract requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800 to $198,000 annually (USD). Full‑time and part‑time employees working at least 20 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible for the full benefits package.
