BTS Software Solutions is seeking a Maven Exploitation Specialist/ Imagery Scientist (EO Focused) Expert to support Department of Defense IC missions at Springfield, VA.
LocationPrimary
Location:
Springfield, VA
Secondary
Location:
St. Louis, Missouri
TS/SCI; must be willing to take a CI Poly in the future
Responsibilities- Integrate emerging sensors and platforms into existing Maven or G systems during experimental/pre‑IOC phases before full operational status. Use available sensor information to develop pipelines and data structures for new sensor integration.
- Assess differences between new sensor characteristics and capabilities compared to currently utilized platforms.
- Analyze potential differences in metadata, data format, and data structure that affect databases, schemas, APIs, and ETL processes for ingestion and movement of data.
- Determine acquisition strategy for new data, including latency, data formats, and security domains.
- Pre‑process and standardize data to match existing standards or transform data for labeling and model development, including format conversion and tiling full‑size images to specified sizes or geospatial bounds.
- Investigate gaps in emerging sensor capability and supplement with other sources. Collaborate with SAR Imagery Scientist to provide coincident EO imagery aligned with collection time frames.
- Develop mathematical conversion models to transform data labels from multiple imagery types (e.g., PNG, NITF) and between orthorectified and non‑orthorectified imagery.
- Develop and implement methods to tile and pre‑process raw imagery, maintaining metadata and data integrity, and to generate tiles with precise geospatial boundaries.
- Analyze image quality and sensor metadata to recommend and curate imagery acquisition aligned with Government priorities. Experience with NIIRS, information‑theoretic image quality metrics, and sensor metadata impacting phenomenology is required.
- Execute day‑to‑day management of imagery curation, acquisition, and pre‑processing, including tiling, pre‑label generation, and file‑type conversion per NGA Maven data strategies.
- Provide EO imagery coincident with SAR imagery within specified geographic and temporal ranges.
- Identify and apply curation methods such as NLP on Intelligence Reporting, automated or semi‑automated machine‑based techniques, and API integration to prioritize imagery per Government directives.
- Monitor and prioritize data holdings to support diversity needs defined by the Government (geographic regions, temporal windows, metadata characteristics, scene characteristics).
- Oversee weekly deliveries of processed imagery and conduct ad‑hoc deliveries for quick‑turn operations support.
- 4+ years as an EO expert with understanding of collection, phenomenology, image formation, and exploitation products.
- Experience exploiting the electromagnetic spectrum (e.g., electro‑optical) to locate objects of interest.
- Experience developing, testing, and evaluating algorithms, processes, and products using EO imagery, including advanced tools (Python, MATLAB, Google Earth Engine).
- Experience communicating EO imagery products, methodologies, and procedures to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Deep understanding of remote sensing, imagery processing, and advanced exploitation methods.
- Experience applying computer vision and machine learning techniques to EO imagery and data to address intelligence problems.
Pay Range: $210,000 to $230,000. This range is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation; final offers will consider factors such as role complexity, educational background, experience, and critical competencies.
