Cloud System Administrator

Purpose and Impact

Amentum seeks a Senior System Administrator to join our team in Springfield, VA. The role supports mission‑critical projects for the Geospatial Enterprise Open Data Store (GEODS) contract. Responsibilities include overseeing testing from development to operational deployment, collaborating with Scrum Masters and developers, and contributing to a robust backlog and roadmap.

Monday through Friday, 11:00AM – 7:00PM.

• Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of cloud systems.
• Isolate and resolve problems involving applications, operating system, hardware, communications, and infrastructure.
• Prepare problem reports for appropriate leads such as Amazon/C2S, NGA‑ESC, etc.
• Support escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.
• Deploy operating system and application software to cloud compute resources.
• Configure and maintain network components and implement operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
• Integrate new technologies into existing systems, including corporate system transition and migration.
• Monitor and report on system health using dashboarding tools such as Elasticsearch Kibana, AWS Cloud Watch, etc.
• Provide support, improve, and implement internal components and applications on multiple clusters.

TS/SCI level security clearance with CI scope and polygraph required.

• Security Clearance: TS/SCI level with polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years experience, Associate’s degree plus 7 years experience, or minimum 8 years experience in a related field.
• Cloud certification, preferably AWS.

• Proficiency with the AWS C2S suite and services.
• Experience administering Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
• Experience providing AWS technical support to the NGA enterprise.
• Senior level experience managing Linux/Windows systems, patching, updates, and configuration management.
• Experience with Active Directory and Windows servers.
• Log analysis and troubleshooting on EC2 instances via SSH tools.
• Experience creating IAM users/roles/policies and writing JSON IAM/S3 policies.
• Experience using Service Now, Jira, Confluence.
• LDAP administration on Linux servers.
