About the Role

This is a hands‑on senior engineering role for someone comfortable being the one in the room when something needs to get fixed onsite, not just on a ticket. There is also real ownership of disaster recovery, from the runbooks to the actual restoration testing.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field
  • Demonstrated experience supporting virtualized, on‑premises, and hybrid infrastructure environments
  • Experience leading infrastructure modernization efforts, platform upgrades, operating system patching initiatives, migrations, disaster recovery activities, or other enterprise technology projects
  • Strong troubleshooting, incident response, and root cause analysis experience within mission‑critical production environments
  • Experience developing and maintaining technical documentation, operational procedures, disaster recovery plans, and recovery runbooks
  • Proven ability to coordinate cross‑functional efforts with infrastructure, network, security, and operations teams
  • Experience supporting enterprise change management processes and high‑risk production changes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal government or large enterprise IT environments
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture initiatives and security modernization efforts
  • Experience supporting multi‑site data centers and hybrid cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with enterprise backup and recovery platforms
  • Relevant certifications such as VMware VCP, Microsoft Azure Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect, Security+, CISSP, or similar
  • Cross‑trains and leads journeyman engineers while providing O&M coverage across enterprise virtual and on‑premise server environments
  • Serves as temporary special‑project lead for initiatives such as OS patching, platform upgrades, infrastructure migrations, Zero Trust initiatives, firewall refreshes, and data center modernization efforts without disrupting day‑to‑day operations
  • Leads infrastructure changes and maintenance activities through planning, execution, validation, and post‑implementation review to minimize operational risk and service disruption
  • Provides on‑demand onsite support with full readiness, including tools, access, and documentation, for monitoring enterprise or high‑risk changes within physical infrastructure
  • Maintains operational readiness for critical infrastructure support by ensuring proper access, tooling, documentation, and change management requirements are in place prior to maintenance windows and production changes
  • Performs hands‑on troubleshooting, remediation, restoration, and recovery actions when remote resolution is insufficient
  • Coordinates closely with data center, network, security, and critical incident management teams during operational events
  • Plans and builds new environments, verifies completion of testing and deployments, and oversees migrations across data centers and cloud platforms
  • Validates deployment, migration, upgrade, and modernization activities through testing, verification, and operational acceptance procedures
  • Supports enterprise change management processes for production infrastructure, including participation in high‑risk and business‑critical change events
  • Supports disaster recovery readiness and execution, including maintaining DR plans, procedures, runbooks, and restoration processes
  • Produces test and exercise reports, status updates, and operational documentation to ensure auditability and compliance
  • Performs secure backups, integrity checks, restoration testing, and executes recovery actions to protect service availability and SLA…
