We are seeking a skilled and motivated Tier 2 System Administrator to join our growing IT team. In this role, you will serve as an escalation point for Tier 1 support and be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting mission‑critical IT systems, supporting end users, and ensuring the security and performance of our infrastructure. This position is ideal for a tech‑savvy professional with strong problem‑solving skills and a passion for technology.
Responsibilities- Provide advanced technical support for hardware, software, database, custom software and network‑related issues escalated from Tier 1.
- Administer and maintain servers (Windows, Linux, Solaris), desktops and applications, printers and peripheral equipment, Active Directory and virtual environments (VMware).
- Perform system health checks, monitor system performance and ensure backups are running for restoration capability.
- Assist in onboarding/offboarding of users, including account setup and access controls.
- Document technical issues, solutions, and processes in ticketing systems and knowledge bases.
- Must have an active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
- Must have at least an IAT Level II Certification such as Security+.
- Must be willing to participate in weekly day support hours rotation – 7‑3, 8‑4, 9‑5, 10‑6 and an after‑hours on‑call support rotation.
- 2‑4 years of hands‑on experience in a system or IT support role.
- Strong knowledge and experience with command line in a Unix environment, Windows Server, Windows desktop, Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware).
- Proficiency in troubleshooting custom software, network connectivity and performance issues.
- Strong understanding of security best practices and data protection.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Scripting knowledge (Power Shell, Python, Bash, etc.).
- Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Service Now, Help Now, Jira, Confluence).
- Exposure to ITIL practices or formal change‑management best practices.
- Prior experience supporting real‑time operations / Mission Critical infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Cisco switches and firewalls.
- Familiarity and experience with infrastructure monitoring tools (SCOM preferred).

Pay RangeThe proposed salary range for this position is $86,600 – $181,800.
